The Physician Assistant Program at Miami Dade College
Miami Dade College: More than just the Beach Scene
Miami, Florida may be well known for its extensive beaches, nightlife and rich culture, but it’s also a good option for those seeking to study or take Physician Assistant (or PA) programs. Physician Assistant programs are offered to those who would like to become licensed medical practitioners.
The health care industry continues to grow as access to healthcare is a primary concern for the government and the citizens of the United States. The need for Physician Assistants grew from the rise in demand for health care services and the difficulty of matching this demand with a supply of doctors. Physician Assistants fill this need by providing basic health care needs for professionals able to practice medicine.
Basically a Physician Assistant functions like a doctor at the primary level or sense. They are able to see patients, diagnose and assess conditions and prescribe treatment. All of this is done under the supervision of a licensed professional physician.
In Florida, one can pursue the program at Miami Dade College. They have a Health Sciences department which houses the program. If you’d like to know more, check out the following sections.

The latter year will be focused on clinical work, ensuring that the students become more familiar in working in a real life environment.
The program ends as graduates earn an Associate of Science Degree. This is an accredited degree which allows graduates to take the National Certifying Examination for Physician Assistants.
